Adaptive reuse
The building stayed useful. Its purpose changed.
The original chicken-coop roof and agricultural proportions were kept wherever the structure allowed. A new insulated, independent house was built beneath them—raised on piers, protected from heat, and straightforward to repair.
The sequence is simple: arrive through the south hall, pass the king bedroom and kitchen, settle into the living room, and meet the orchard at the wide northwest opening.
One long, quiet room

A king bed, a sofa that opens for occasional guests, dining for four, a compact full kitchen, generous concealed storage, and a private bath with two basins and an enclosed shower.

Comfort, quietly engineered
Off-grid does not mean improvised.
Solar and battery storage, pressurized filtered water, hot water, propane, and climate control are monitored without becoming part of the room. Local switches and manual backups continue to work if the internet does not.

Access and policies
Know before you arrive.
Quiet hours begin at 10:00 p.m. No smoking indoors. Gates stay as you find them. Animals are visited with a farm steward. Water is used carefully because every liter is stored and moved on site.
